Mobbin: study real app screens and flows before you design

A searchable library of screens from shipped apps and websites. A free account gives limited access; flows and search need a paid plan.

Cover for the article: Mobbin: study real app screens and flows before you design

The site: Mobbin. Cost: Freemium. Useful for: product and design.

What it is

Mobbin is a design reference library of screenshots from real, shipped apps and websites. Its homepage cites more than 600,000 screens, with new ones added every week, organised as apps, sites, screens, flows, animations and UI elements.

A free account gives limited access to apps and sites, up to three collections and limited copying and downloading. Flows, animations, search and Deep Search come with the paid plans. Pro is priced from 10 US dollars a month when billed yearly. The Team plan adds shared collections, comments, team management and an API.

Use it for

  • Seeing how established apps handle onboarding, checkout or settings
  • Collecting references before a design sprint or a brief to an agency
  • Comparing your product’s screens with competitors’
  • Learning common interface patterns if you are new to product work

It replaces hours of downloading apps and taking screenshots yourself, and it shows patterns that real companies have chosen to ship.

How to use it

  1. Sign up for a free account at mobbin.com.
  2. Browse the apps or sites in your category and open one.
  3. Save useful screens to one of your collections.
  4. Note the patterns that repeat across several apps.
  5. If you need flows or search, consider a Pro plan.

Use your three free collections for one question each, such as sign-up, checkout and empty states. Focused collections are easier to share and discuss. When you review them as a team, ask why each company might have made its choice, not only whether you like it, because the reasons are what transfer to your own product.

Example

Before redesigning a booking app’s checkout, a product team can open several travel and food delivery apps in Mobbin and save their payment screens to one collection. Laying them side by side shows which fields, trust signals and button labels are common.

Watch out for

  • The free plan is limited; search and flows need a paid plan.
  • Screens show what apps look like, not whether a pattern performs well.
  • Copying another product’s design too closely creates legal and brand risk.

It works well alongside Product Hunt, G2 and Internet Archive Wayback Machine.
